Overview

A shave biopsy is a diagnostic procedure where a superficial portion of a skin lesion is removed using a scalpel held parallel to the skin surface. The specimen is then submitted for histopathologic examination to establish a diagnosis.

Care Instructions

  3. Use bandage if area is prone to trauma.
  4. Avoid strenuous activity for 1 week.
  5. Do not submerge wound in water for 24 hours.
  6. Monitor for signs of infection and follow up with results.
