I&D Procedure

Overview

Incision and drainage (I&D) is a minor surgical procedure used to evacuate fluid or pus from an abscess or cyst. A small incision is made over the lesion to allow drainage of accumulated material, relieving pressure and pain.

  6. Monitor for excessive drainage or signs of spreading infection.
