ED&C Procedure

Overview

Electrodesiccation and curettage (ED&C) is a minor surgical procedure used to treat benign and pre-malignant skin lesions. The procedure involves scraping the lesion with a curette followed by electrical cauterization to destroy remaining tissue and achieve hemostasis.

Care Instructions

  1. Keep wound clean and dry for 24 hours.
  2. Apply antibiotic ointment twice daily.
  3. Cover with bandage for first few days.
  4. Avoid water and excessive moisture on wound.
  5. Do not pick at scab or allow it to get wet.
  6. Avoid sun exposure to prevent hyperpigmentation during healing.
