Bedbugs (Cimicosis)
Bedbug Bites
Overview
Bedbug bites are caused by Cimex lectularius, small parasitic insects that feed on human blood, typically at night. The bites produce itchy, red welts that often appear in clusters or linear patterns ("breakfast, lunch, and dinner" pattern). Bedbugs do not transmit diseases but can cause significant discomfort, secondary infection from scratching, and psychological distress.
